1976

Die Joseph-von-Eichendorff-Schule wird gemeinsam mit 4 weiteren Sonderschulen  gegründet. In dem Zusammenhang wird die Bildung der Schuleinzugsbereiche für die Sonderschulen der Stadt Bonn vorgenommen. wird Die Schule wird überwiegend von Schüler*innen besucht, die in den Bonner Stadtteilen Dransdorf und Tannenbusch wohnen. Zu den weiteren Einzugsgebieten zählen Buschdorf, Endenich, Ippendorf, Röttgen, Ückesdorf, Lengsdorf, Brüser Berg, Medinghoven, Duisdorf, Lessenich, Messdorf, Poppelsdorf und Alfter (Rhein-Sieg-Kreis).

Die Rheinschule geht im Jahr 2015 aus dem Zusammenschluss der Joseph-von-Eichendorff-Schule mit der Gartenschule in Beuel hervor. Die Schule bietet somit in der Gesamtheit die Förderschwerpunkte Lernen, Emotionale und Soziale Entwicklung sowie Sprache für die Primär- und Sekundarstufe I.

Die Stadt Bonn ordnet die Förderschul-Landschaft neu. Die Rheinschule mit den Standorten in Endenich (ehemalige Joseph-von-Eichendorff-Schule) und in Beuel (ehemalige Gartenschule) wird  zum Schuljahr 2020/2021 geteilt. Aus der Rheinschule wird die Schule am Hügel, welche nunmehr als eigenständiger Standort in Endenich ausschließlich ein Förderschulangebot für die Sekundarstufe I mit den Förderschwerpunkten Lernen sowie Emotionale und Soziale Entwicklung anbietet.
